Stanley Hotel
Exploring the spectacular sights in Rocky Mountain National Park can be quite romantic when you’re with that special someone. The Lodge at the famous Stanley Hotel is the perfect romantic basecamp for some of the best hikes in Colorado at RMNP.

In fact, chic one, two, and three-bedroom log cabins overlook the forest and are outfitted with Western-style furnishings.
And while there are twenty-three uniquely decorated cabins scattered throughout the property, you won’t even know you have neighbors since you’ll be hidden away in the forest.
Therefore, feel free to sit outside and relax on the lounge swing of your porch before using your in-room Keurig machine to make a fresh cup of coffee.
There are also separate living rooms with fireplaces. So, you can relax by the fire after horseback riding, doing a cattle roundup, watching a rodeo, going fly fishing, and hiking through Pike National Forest.
Plus, with three meals a day included with your stay, you can relax as you enjoy a private mountaintop picnic.
Just know that no internet, TVs, or telephones are available inside the accommodations at this ranch.
Therefore, this is one of the best romantic getaways in Colorado for you if you live near Denver (this hotel is only 70 miles south of Denver) and are looking for a luxury retreat at a ranch.
Sonnenalp Hotel

After all, this plush hotel has been in business since 1979 and is well-located near Vail Ski Resort. Therefore, ski enthusiasts will adore the easy access of this property to over 145 miles of ski trails.
However, non-skiers can make use of the on-site Sonnenalp Spa, with a variety of indoor-outdoor pools and whirlpools, before hitting a hole-in-one at the hotel’s 18-hole golf course.
You can then book a romantic meal for two at the Bully Ranch restaurant before retiring to your room.
Yes, accommodations here are a bit on the cozy side, but flannel fabrics, exposed wood, and Bavarian furniture all make you feel like you are in a chalet.
Plus, you can upgrade to a suite with a fireplace if you need more space.
So, sit on your comfy bed and take in the sweeping views of Vail Village and Gore Creek before checking out the heated floors in the bathroom. This is one of my favorite amenities after a long day of skiing.

Tiy can catch the colors of a striking sunset over Pikes Peak from the hotel’s veranda. Up the romance level with an add-on package of sparkling wine, chocolate strawberries & truffles, and a rose.
When you’re ready to venture out of your room, head out on a hike around the stunning sandstone formations at Garden of the Gods.

The Frisco Inn offers the perfect après experience with their daily Aperitivo Time of wine and complimentary appetizers. Later, you can heat things up in the hot tubs and sauna or visit Mt. Royal Spa for a massage – maybe even an in-room couples massage!
Hygge Chalet
While Grant might not be the first place that pops into your head for a romantic getaway in Colorado, the Hygge Chalet will change your mind. This adorable A-frame Airbnb is a secluded sanctuary in the woods with a barrel steam sauna, two decks, and a gas fireplace.
Explore the area with a private trail from the chalet that leads into Pike National Forest. Or drive to nearby Guanella Pass, which offers more hiking options and some of the most spectacular fall colors in Colorado if it’s leaf-peeping season.
The Shaggy Sheep Cafe just down the road might not be typically romantic, but the cute mountain cabin offers delicious comfort food that is very hygge!

Turns out, the most romantic places in Colorado on a budget are hot springs! Here are the best Colorado hot springs where you can have a romantic soak and stay the night for cheap.
Orvis Hot Springs
Nestled near the San Juan Mountains in Ridgway, Orvis Hot Springs has ten different hot springs and soaking pools to enjoy with your partner. The hot springs are clothing-optional, and if you stay on the property, you get 24-hour access for a romantic evening soaking under the stars.
The cheapest way to stay at Orvis Hot Springs is by camping, which runs $37-49/per person each night. You can get a little more comfortable by booking a room in the lodge for $169/night, and that also gets you a fluffy bathrobe for your stay.
Orvis Hot Springs also offers massage therapy in yurts on the property, so you can deepen your relaxation and add more romance with a couples massage.
Strawberry Park Hot Springs
Strawberry Park Hot Springs in Steamboat Springs is my all-time favorite hot springs in Colorado. Not to mention, it makes for a great romantic getaway on a budget. While it is family-friendly during the day, children are not allowed after dark. The pools become clothing optional and there are no artificial lights. Soak au naturel under the light of the moon and stars.
You can tent camp at Strawberry Park, or pay just a little more to sleep in one of the cool covered wagons, cozy cabins, or the unique train caboose (which has a fireplace for that extra romantic ambiance). Massage therapy is also available at the hot springs.
Note: Advance reservations for both soaking and lodging are currently required due to Covid and payment on the premises is cash only.
Joyful Journey Hot Springs
Take a relaxing approach to a romantic getaway at Joyful Journey Hot Springs in the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado. You can soak in one of several thermal pools with spectacular views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Or enjoy your own space in one of the private indoor hot tubs.
Spend a romantic night in a tipi, a yurt, or set up your own tent on the grounds. Any of the lodging options include admission to the hot springs as well as a healthy, homemade breakfast and dinner. The spa at Joyful Journey offers massages and facials for an additional fee, and yoga classes are offered on the weekends.
Great Sand Dunes National Park is just a 40 minute drive from the hot springs and makes for a fun excursion for the day. The town of Crestone is even closer, and the spiritual mecca offers lots of interesting things to explore.
