Meet Fox

All About Fox

Fox is my nickname, but some people call me Meg. I’m simply your average 30-something gal with an insatiable lust for adventure. If I’m not struggling my way up a mountain you might find me sweating it out with a 35lb pack on my back. Or perhaps I’m crashing up a river with my adventure-pup Nina.

One thing is for certain, I have an enthusiasm for the outdoors and I love to write about it. As a full-time outdoor freelance writer, I’m fortunate enough to combine my passions and make it my life’s work. In fact, I ditched my career of nearly 10 years so I can share that joy with you. Join me and the Lady Dirtbag tribe and squeeze the juice out of life.

When I’m not exploring my home of Colorado chances are I’m out and about looking like a sweaty old man bushwhacking through the Peruvian Amazon, solo traveling through Laos, or gasping for air high in the Himalaya. Either way I’m out there, ungraceful and messy. This is me, no frills, no shame, no problem. I’d rather be dirty than done up.

Adventures of Fox in the forest - Squirrel

Meet Squirrel

Squirrel (aka John) is my counterpart, some may argue my better half, he wanted me to refer to him as “my man servant” but that’s silly. I call him my best forest friend. We have been adventuring together since 2014.

He’s a big part of why I fell back in love with the outdoors, encouraging me to push my boundaries. As an avid rock climber, he dragged me into the world of climbing despite my bone-chilling fear of heights. Moreover, he’s been a big driving force in my mountaineering exploits, encouraging me that I can do anything I set my mind to. In return for helping me face some butt-puckering heights, I have opened up the doors of international travel and gently pushed him through. Some might argue that for a second trip abroad, Nepal is not gentle, but we love exploring so much, he doesn’t mind…all that much.

Both of us have a taste for adventure that can’t be satisfied. We complement each other in a way that words don’t describe. Although we don’t always adventure together, we frequently hold hands and jump into the great unknown!

This Blog

You don’t have to be a superhero to be adventurous. In order to climb a mountain, you simply have to put one foot in front of the other. If you want to travel overseas, all you need is a ticket. Wild road trip? Some wheels. Adventure is everywhere. You are capable. The hardest part is taking the plunge. So get out there. Try something new. Look bad doing it. Who cares? No one is perfect. We all have to start somewhere.

Follow my (mis)adventures as I trip, fall, succeed, and learn through this wonderful journey they call life. Step outside your comfort zone. Take a little risk. Push yourself a little further. You never know what you’ll find on the other side.
